Welcome!

The Grace Alice Campbell Foundation was started by Chris and Brenda Campbell with the help of family and friends in honor of their daughter, Grace. Grace was born on September 4, 2003, with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS), a rare and serious congenital heart defect. This heart defect would require Grace to have 3 open-heart surgeries. Shortly after birth, Grace had her first open heart surgery and then her second by the time she was five months old. In October of 2006 Grace had her third and hopefully final open-heart surgery. She has spent a total of 10 weeks at Children’s Hospital Boston where she received the best possible care available as well as state-of-the-art treatment for her heart defect. Because of the amazing care and support we received at Children’s Hospital we were inspired to somehow give back to the hospital that saved Grace’s life.

In June of 2004 we started our annual event “Gracie’s Run” which is a 50mile, police escorted, motorcycle ride. The ride travels through the scenic back roads of Southeastern Massachusetts and ends with an afternoon of live music and a BBQ.

Our foundation has two goals: to raise funds to help doctors through research to better understand the causes of CHD, and (hopefully one day) to find a cure for all Congenital Heart Defects; also to help the children and their families who have been affected by a CHD. We do this by each year donating to the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit at Children’s Hospital Boston and also making direct donations to families affected by a Congenital Heart Defect.
